Well, I plan on going to the applying for the reserves later this month or in August, but I‘d like to ask a few questions before I do so.

1)When I apply for the reserves, do I apply at the CF recruiting centre or at the particular unit that I‘m interested in joining?

2) At what time do you specify your trade preferences? Is this done after you‘ve taken the aptitude test and medical so that you know what trades are available to you?

3) Ah yes, the drugs. Well I‘m 16, and used to smoke marijuana once a month, rarely more, but I haven‘t even come in contact with it since March, maybe April at the latest (I quit for my own well being). If I tell the recruiter this, is he going to say, "Come back in 6 months" or something like that?

4) I took a practice aptitude test located at     http://www.psc-cfp.gc.ca/ppc/grt_test_e.htm

I scored 30 out of 40 on it, or 75%. Is that a respectable score? It actually felt like I did worse, so maybe I got lucky... or maybe I‘m just good at narrowing down the possible answers, I don‘t know.

5) And last, the physical fitness. I can easily do the situps, and I can pull of the 19 pushups, but I can‘t run 2.4 KM in under 12 minutes. I can run like 5 km right now, probably more. Anyways, is the step test on your pre enrolement fitness evaluation related to the 2.4 km run at all?

Anyways, if someone could answer the questions I posted above, that would be great, and good to know before I go talking to recruiters.

When you apply, you can apply through the CFRC or the local unit of your choice. Either way will work. Although, I would suggest you go talk to someone at your local unit anyways, even if you dont apply there. I made my trade preferences as part of my application package (before the tests). You list your top three choices. You have to be clean for at least 6 months. And theoretically, the run, and the step test should be equivilent.
